It is with a very heavy heart that I have to report that we have lost one of the Grand Dames of the Breed. Ch Beaufield Kibiter CD. Kizzie to all of us who loved her, and there were many. Bridget who had the grace of heart to let us have this true Queen of the breed. She came to us at three years old on a lease and never left. She has ruled here for 11 years above both IWS and people alike. She was nanny to my son, an office and lab buddie to my husband. To me she was the world. She was the foundation for my kennel, Great Mother to three litters, with get like Ch Tara’s Picture Perfect CD, Ch Tara’s Captain Morgan(AOM), Ch Tara’s Pirate Anne Bonny RN, Tara’s Pirate of Madgrial JH, Ch Tara’s Image, CH Tara’s Sure Shot , grandmother to some of the top dogs now LAZ and CHAOS and even a great grandmother to some youngsters in the ring now. Her mark on the breed is lasting.
Everything she did was in her own supreme style. She tolerated getting an obedience title with me, sighing while she heeled the whole time. Passing only so that she wouldn't have to do it anymore.
We took a stab at getting a JH as well. She loved to hunt but didn’t like old birds or ones that were badly shot. She would run out pick them up and then make a big production of spitting them out then wiping her mouth and then come back to me and say you have to be kidding you can’t eat that thing. And she would be right, hard to argue with her since she was right. After getting one leg on her JH I need to decide whether to save her coat for one last run at the national at 7.
Kizzie’s passion was the show ring, she had a style all her own. Kizzie thought that she was beautiful and she was. She would flip her top knot to the judge as he walked by, and say look at me. This grand style earned her:
3 x Award of Merits at the IWSCA
Group 1, 2, 3, 4
As well as many big breed wins at supported shows.
Jessica Ploude was one of her favorites handlers only a kid when she showed Kizzie but Kizzie loved the fact that she was fast, so she could strut her stuff, She floated in the ring with Jess. Her movement took my breath away.
One of the days that I will never forget with Kizzie is her last time in the show ring. Dan Sayers showed her and won breed over 70 dogs at the age of 7, then while in the group ring he sat with her telling her how beautiful she was, kizzie kept turning her head in agreement. When the judge got to her, Kizzie showed her that she was the only dog in the ring and she won the group. One of the highlights of my life in dogs.
In her later years she would sleep with me especially in thunderstorms and ride around in the car with me, chase the geese in the yard and keep the other dogs in line.
She will be truly missed and I would like to thank Bridget, Dan,Jessica, Becka, Lindy, Mindy and all those who supported her in her efforts over the years.
Sleep well my love, I will see you again.
